High Water, High Times

When it rains in Houston, which is almost always, it tends to flood. You can be sitting at home watching on the news about all these people stranded in gas stations, on the side of the road or wherever there is higher ground. BUT to actually experience this is on a whole different level. Last Friday, I had a planned trip to Dallas, since it was the last day of summer school, I wasn't sure if I could leave early. I ended leaving my apartment around 3 p.m. and not thinking about the rain, I didn't get on the freeway, like I should of.. duh, I took what I was thinking would be faster and not flooded. Boy was I WRONG! What should have taken me anywhere from 15-20 min. took two and a half HOURS!! The water in parts was so high I didn't know if I could make it through... I finally made it to the freeway. of course the entrance was blocked by a police car. I made my way, slowly and almost impossible to a Luby's parking lot, thanks to an 18-wheeler for pushing the water out of the way. Ironically, my parents happened to be in the city and couldn't find a way back to their side of town, so I was surprised to hear they were so close, it was a little easing. So the three of us sat in Luby's for over another two hours, so now I should already be in Dallas by now and I am sitting in a Luby's! AWESOME! Finally I get on the road around 7:30 p.m. and apparently the whole city had to wait, because there were cars all the way! FINALLY I arrived around midnight, exhausted! But Once I was there I had a good time. I got to spend some time with a dear friend, who I miss lots. Went to a comedy club and the headliner was Mark Curry, from "Hangin With Mr. Cooper" It was a good night, hilarious! I haven't laughed that hard in a while. Good times, also he took me to some good restaurants that we don't have here! I'm glad I got up there and had a nice time! Even though I didn't get to see my HUSSY, but I will all in due time, I miss her too!
It was a good long weekend, even though I am on vacation, so every day is a long weekend. haha! Now I am home and there is MORE rain coming, why... I want it to be sunny!

I guess the whole point is just make sure if you have someone you were once close to and maybe have drifted apart, try to make time to see them, even if it's just a phone conversation.... it's good for all parties! :) Have a blessed day
